Dean Jones’ wife Jane says his estate cannot afford to pay any money to her late husband’s love child, instead offering him some cricket memorabilia.

The battle over the cricketer’s estate has hit a new low, with his wife of 34 years revealing that there was no cash for 12-year-old Koby, the son Dean Jones had with long-term lover Kerri-Anne Hamilton.

It comes as an email that Jane Jones sent to Ms Hamilton about the affair, as well as secret hidden camera footage, was uncovered.

Separate to proceedings, copies of the email and video have been leaked to this newspaper.

The series of videos, filmed over several months in 2005, recorded Dean Jones and Ms Hamilton in the foyer of a hotel and in car parks. It is unclear why the pair was being filmed, or who had access to the videos.

The bombshell email had the subject line “Deanie” and was sent to Ms Hamilton’s Hotmail account.

“My name is Jane Jones and I am sending you this email because I know what’s been going on with you guys for some time. I would appreciate it if you had no further contact with my husband (see the word husband),” Mrs Jones wrote in an email dated June 17, 2002.

“Ring me at home if you wish, you’ve probably got the number.

PS. Dean might chat also he’s also here.”

Mrs Jones claims that the international cricketer, who travelled around the world as a commentator after he retired from the game, was broke when he died, according to documents seen by this newspaper.

She still lives in the family’s home in Romsey at the foot of the Macedon Ranges about an hour north of Melbourne.

The timber home has had a substantial extension, and the land it sits on covers more than three standard house blocks.

The Romsey home was not included as an asset in his will. A property search still listed Dean Jones as an owner.

The property, which the couple bought in 1994 for $55,000, had a mortgage with Citigroup listed in 2012, raising questions about why he would need to remortgage after owning the property for three decades.

Dean Jones’ will claimed he died with only a $40,000 Mercedes Benz – which Mrs Jones still used and was parked in her driveway this week – along with shares in two companies.

Mrs Jones claims in a document that a company linked to the Dean Jones Family Trust had “no assets save for $35,000 at bank … and is indebted to Jane by reason of a joint loan account in favour of Dean and Jane in the sum of $250,199. The trust is effectively defunct.”

Dean Jones had $218,874 when he died, with Jane’s balance at $34,853.

However he owed the Australian Taxation Office almost $40,000 for the 2019 and 2020 financial years.

Mrs Jones said that “Koby’s claim is doomed to fail”, arguing that Dean had nothing when he died.

“All chattels including memorabilia from Dean’s cricket career constitute, after some 34 years of marriage, joint property and do not form part of his estate,” she said.

“The estate is insolvent. However, Jane is willing to provide some items of memorabilia to Koby.”

Mrs Jones also claimed that “Dean had very little contact with Koby, who lived with Kerri-Anne Hamilton.”

However, Ms Hamilton’s social media shows a series of photographs of Dean with his son.

Koby Dean Hamilton was born in 2009, a half brother to Phoebe, 30 and Isabella, 25, whom Dean had with Jane Jones. His existence was first revealed in A Current Affair interview in 2010. Jones had been named Victoria’s

Father of the Year in 2007, which was annulled after the interview ran.

His two daughters were mentioned in his 2012 will, but Koby was snubbed and a $615 monthly child support payment stopped when he died in India in 2020, aged 59.

Koby took the fight for his inheritance to Victoria’s Supreme Court, where the case was continuing.

Mrs Jones did not respond to requests for comment and her lawyers did not return calls or answer emails.
