A NUMBER of residents at a Highton aged care home struck by a fatal COVID-19 outbreak have recovered from the virus.
Thirty-one residents, including seven who have died, tested positive to coronavirus since an outbreak emerged late last month.
Twenty Opal South Valley staff members have also tested positive.
An Opal Aged Care spokeswoman said the provider continued to work closely with Barwon Health to assess every resident who has tested positive to COVID-19 to determine when they have recovered.
“On Barwon Health’s advice we can confirm that 13 residents have recovered, this is very encouraging for our residents, families and team, and we are hopeful that more residents will soon have recovered,” the spokeswoman said.
“We recognise the contributions of all of our partners in care, including Barwon Health, as we remain vigilant in protecting the safety of our residents and team.”
There was one Opal South Valley resident with coronavirus in hospital on Thursday.
