TAKING their lead from the Hollywood movie Calendar Girls, 23 Morphett Vale RSL auxilliary members have posed semi-naked for a fundraising calendar.
Auxiliary president Dierdre Owen said the women ranged in age from their mid-50s to 92.
“We had talked about doing a tasteful nude calendar for years but never had the nerve to do it, until some new women joined our ranks last year,’’ Mrs Owen, 70, said.
One of those new members, photographer Brigette Arthur, convinced the women the time to do a calendar was right.
“We thought well, why not, if we just keep on talking about it we will all be too old,’’ Mrs Owen said.
“When we started shooting the calendar we didn’t look at each other, but after a while you got used to it – all the ladies enjoyed it.
One of the women featured in the calendar, Pat Cottis, died while it was at the printers.
However, her family gave their permission for her photo to remain in the calendar.
The calendars ($15) will be on sale at Hallett Cove Shopping Centre on October 14-16, and from the clubrooms at 8 Robertson St, Morphett Vale, on Friday nights.
