THE Top End can expect the deluge, which dropped almost 100mm of rain in some areas on Wednesday, to continue for the next week thanks to the current monsoon break period.
It means the Northern Territory Buffaloes representative team may face similar wet conditions at their next training session, after having a wet and wild kick at TIO Stadium on Wednesday night, with 21mm falling.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Billy Lynch said the 97mm and 81mm recorded at Daly River and Noonamah respectively were on the heavier end of the spectrum, but similar rain would be seen in the Top End over the next seven days.

“We’ve gone back to what we call a monsoon break period which means it’s the typical afternoon/evening thunderstorms,” he said.
