Melbourne food trends that need to stop: rainbow, deconstructed, coloured lattes

YOU can buy deconstructed avocado on toast and a latte every colour of the rainbow – but have the hipster brigade outdone themselves with the crazy food trends?

HAVE we seen enough of Melbourne’s hipster food trends?

First came the deconstructed long macchiato, which caused a social media storm in a (coffee) cup, then golden lattes and now there’s a food coloured every shade of the rainbow.

Don’t forget the ‘deconstructed’ craze, where all elements of the dish are served separately instead of together.

There’s even DIY avocado on toast where half an avocado, two slices of toast, one lemon and salt flakes are served in a neat takeaway box. Lucky cutlery is supplied for those on the run.

Then there’s the trendy California rolls you assemble yourself.

You get dried seaweed sheets, a dollop of white rice, topped with crabmeat.
