“It’s really good ... I had a lot of customers coming in saying they’d been voting – I knew a lot had been voting,” he said.
“It’s our customers that have voted us in and we can’t thank them enough for their support.
“If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have won.”
Favourite items for Christmas from the Bellerive store include butterflied lamb and chicken, as well as hams, Mr Hansson said.
“Ham is always the most popular, but a lot of people have barbies and they have butterflied legs of lamb or butterflied chickens,” he said.
“We butterfly it out flat so it cooks real quick and it probably only takes half an hour on the barbie, no need to carve, no bones or anything.”
Tassie’s Best Butcher is part of an ongoing series with celebrity foodie Matt Preston and delicious magazine.
In the wake of COVID-19 Matt Preston is looking to highlight standout hospitality and food producers around the country to boost support and patronage.
“Every month, Delicious Local will celebrate who does the best food across Australia in a buffet of supercalifragideliciousness – and I want locals to be my guide,” Mr Preston said.
