LORD Mayor Robert Doyle has paid tribute to his wife Emma Page Campbell after the birth of their baby boy.
Cr Doyle, 60, took to Twitter to announce the Anzac Day arrival of Henry Ian Bennett Doyle, adding that “Emma is a champion’’.
Henry is the first child for Ms Page Campbell, a lawyer, while Cr Doyle has three children from his first marriage.
The Lord Mayor has been swamped with well-wishers whom he thanked on social media on Saturday morning.
“The Twitterverse can be very generous: thank you all for your kind wishes. I feel blessed,’’ he tweeted.
Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons offered his congratulations, tweeting “wonderful news my friend! The melbourne royal baby has arrived’’.
The couple met in 2005 after being introduced by ex-Liberal MP Victor Perton and his wife Jane, and wed six years later.
They told the Herald Sun last year that they had discussed Ms Page Campbell’s desire for a child when first talking about marriage.
