Ms Hedge, 34, was dining in London on Saturday night with her boyfriend when she was stabbed in the neck.

She was working as a waitress at Elliot’s restaurant in London Bridge when a man came up behind her and slashed her throat with a knife.

Her father Ross Hedge said she had hid behind a table just as the attackers were leaving the restaurant, “and saw her at the last minute and came back” for her.

It’s understood she had her back to the man and he came up behind her, grabbed her head and slashed her throat.

She was briefly in a coma but is now awake and speaking with friends.

The Brisbane woman wrote on Facebook: “Hey everyone, just so you know im doing ok. Bit of pain but I will survive. Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes. Love to all.”

Her mother, Kim Del Toro, said her daughter had contacted her via Skype after the surgery.

“It’s terrible -- I didn’t really speak to her because she couldn’t say too much, but it’s just really good to know she’s going to be OK,” she told the ABC today.

Her father Ross Hedge, said she had suffered “no major damage”.

“She’s just got a stab wound to the throat somewhere, but it’s all good,” he said.

“There’s no major damage. She’s very lucky. She was terrified of course.”

The hospitality worker, who has worked at The End in West End and Bar Alto at the Powerhouse, grew up in Dalby before moving to Brisbane about a year ago and then London about six months ago.

She called her friends and family in Queensland to say she was OK, that the knife had missed her main arteries and windpipe and she was recovering well after receiving stitches.

A witness to her attack said one of the terrorists cut her throat while she was trying to hide under a table.

“The girl was bleeding massively, but she was conscious ... there was a lot of blood, and it was clear on the neck, which was scary,” he told Nine

Video (see above) has emerged of an Australian man being treated for stab wounds to his neck during the London attacks.

Sitting on a kerb holding a bandage to his face and a blood-soaked bandage around his neck, the man identified as Andrew Morrison said he had been at the Belushi’s sports bar near the London Bridge watching the Champions League final.

He said he had just left the bar when he saw a fight break out and attempted to intervene.

“I start to walk towards it and all of a sudden a guy comes up to me with a knife, and I’m like this, ducks it and he gets me there [in the neck].”

“I walk into a pub and say someone help me, I’ve just been stabbed,” he said.

He was being helped by paramedics at the side of the road and was not severely injured.

At one point he tells the police officer that his wound “is not that bad”.

He described his attacker as looking like a “Muslim terrorist” and was without a mask.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull earlier told media: “We are aware of reports of two Australians who have been directly affected by this attack.

“This afternoon the Foreign Minister spoke to the parents of both Australians. One case has been confirmed and that Australian concerned is in hospital.

“In the other case, we are continuing to make inquiries. Our officials will continue to provide every assistance they can to Australians affected by this shocking attack and their families.”
