“Geelong Careers daily live job feed is up to an average of 1300 jobs per day, an increase of 30 per cent over daily job numbers for February last year,” Ms Messer said.

“Careers in construction, government, education and IT have remained consistently strong throughout the pandemic.”

But Ms Messer said jobs in food and fibre industries, (down 46 per cent in 2020), hospitality (down 21.5 per cent) and arts (down 10% per cent) were “badly impacted” by the fall out from COVID-19.

Of January, jobs careers in caring such as nursing and aged care proved popular accounting for 37 per cent.

While building (22 per cent) and government sector (12 per cent) jobs were also in demand.

Jobs in the Golden Plains Shire have dropped steadily since November while jobs in Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliffe, and the Surf Coast and Colac-Otway shires have risen since November.
