Highly odorous raw sewage is leaking onto the foreshore at Queenscliff High Light House.
The Environment Protection Authority is warning residents and visitors to avoid the area.
Officers were notified of the suspected leak at 10.20am after residents noticed a smelly discharge leaking from a pipe into the foreshore area.
“EPA is warning people to avoid the foreshore area of Queenscliff Light House toward the south end of Hesse St following a sewage discharge,” the authority posted in a statement on Twitter.

Barwon Water’s general manager of infrastructure and technology Shaun Cumming said crews were on site.
“Our initial investigation has not found any blockages in our network in the area but we are continuing to investigate all possibilities,” he said.
“A barricade has been erected to make the area safe on the beach.
“We ask people to avoid the area and thank them for their patience while the source of the leak is identified and fixed, and clean up complete.”
