SEVEN new coronavirus cases have been reported for Greater Geelong, with the rise breaking a streak of falling active cases in the municipality.
The number of active cases in Greater Geelong increased by five, from 66 reported on Wednesday to 71 on Thursday.
No new cases were recorded across other G21 region local government areas, the Department of Health and Human Services figures showed.
Active cases were steady for Colac Otway and the Surf Coast at nine and five respectively.
Golden Plains and the Borough of Queenscliffe remained free of active cases.
There were six inpatients at Geelong hospital with COVID-19, including one in the Intensive Care Unit, on Thursday afternoon.
There were 113 new coronavirus cases reported statewide on Thursday, the lowest daily increase since 75 cases were recorded on July 5.
Victoria reported 23 additional fatalities, 22 of those linked to known outbreaks in aged care facilities.
The new deaths brought the state’s coronavirus total to 485.
It comes as new figures, released by the State Government on Thursday, showed the postcodes where coronavirus cases have climbed locally.
The total number of confirmed cases in the 3213 postcode, covering Anakie, Batesford, Lovely Banks and Moorabool, increased by eight, from three to 11, over a week.
There were four active cases reported for the postcode on Thursday.
Six new cases were recorded in 3214, covering Corio, Norlane and North Shore, over the week.
Active cases fell from 17 to nine.
The 3216 postcode, which covers suburbs including Belmont, Grovedale, Marshall, Waurn Ponds and Highton, remained Geelong’s hardest hit postcode, with 109 cases in total.
However, active cases dropped from 45 to 29.
In the 3250 postcode, which includes Colac, Colac East, Colac West and Elliminyt, another seven cases were recorded, while active cases fell from 11 to seven.
Meanwhile, Barwon Health said no further cases had been identified at Australian Lamb Company in Colac after a worker, who lives in Geelong, tested positive on Monday.
“There have been no further positive cases, despite testing more than 400 employees,” spokeswoman Kate Bibby said.
She said the remainder of the ALC workforce was being tested on Thursday.
“Our contact tracing team is still investigating the source of the infection and exploring all possible scenarios,” she said.
