POSSIBLE hail is forecast for Hobart and southern Tasmania, while boaties and graziers warned of extreme weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a high chance of showers today and a possible chance of hail, with strong west and south-westerly winds from 25 to 40km/h, changing to the west and north west in the afternoon.
At 4.52am sheep graziers were warned that cold temperatures, showers and strong south-westerly winds are expected.
The Bureau says areas likely to be affected include the South East forecast district and parts of the Furneaux Islands, Midlands, East Coast and Upper Derwent Valley forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
On the water gale warnings are in place for Storm Bay, east of Flinders Island, Upper East Coast, Lower East Coast and the South East Coast.
Strong wind warnings are in place for the Derwent Estuary, Frederick Henry Bay and Norfolk Bay, Channel, Central Plateau Lakes, Far North West Coast, Central North Coast, Banks Strait and Franklin Sound, South West Coast and Central West Coast.
