THE Northern Territory government is calling on businesses to provide expert advice and practical steps on how to make our government buildings and assets more energy efficient.
A tender being released today, which aims to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, calls for advice on existing greenhouse gas emissions and their sources from the operations of the Northern Territory government and advice on strategies for the government to reduce its emissions.
Climate Change Minister Eva Lawler said the tender was an important step in council preparing for and acting upon its climate goals.
“We are tackling climate change, to help protect the things we value most and make sure we improve the way we do business in the Territory,” she said.
“The tender released today will provide us with expert advice on how we can make our buildings and government assets more energy efficient.”
The tender will help the government understand its own emissions profile and establish an effective emissions reduction pathway to become carbon neutral by 2030.
“The Territory Labor government knows that climate-smart policy is smart economic policy that will create new jobs for Territorians and deliver significant cost-savings to Territorians,” Ms Lawler said.
