Professional tinsel maker Ciaran O’Sullivan is an expert in decorations.
The Geelong man spends most days surrounded by kilometres of top quality tinsel.
Mr O’Sullivan has been in the boutique tinsel business for decades and believes his Bell Park Glook tinsel factory is the last of its kind in Australia.
“We are a boutique tinsel factory,” Mr O’Sullivan said of his company.
He said his thick, fancy tinsel puts the average, imported string found wrapped around a household Christmas tree to shame.
Mr O’Sullivan specialises in large commercial orders sometimes shipping up to 6km of tinsel to fill a single order.
Mr O’Sullivan’s tinsel is usually found at glamorous Christmas parties or adorning the displays of department stores.
After all these years in the business Mr O’Sullivan said the shiny stuff had not lost its sparkle.
“Kids love the lustre, the sparkle and the softness,” he said.
“They say ‘wow, it’s brilliant’.”
