If Freddie Mercury had seen the days of social media, he might have enjoyed the same status as one namesake Geelong feline shooting to Insta-superstardom with a whole lot of sass.

Geelong feline Freddie Mercury has found fame online, with the British Shorthair amassing almost 25,000 followers on Instagram.
The five-year-old cat has won over fans with his striking eyes, cuddly appearance and adorable poses.
Owner Alex Malon received Freddie as a gift for her 30th birthday when he was a kitten and started his Instagram account.
“I started it because I didn’t want to spam my friends with cat photos,” she said.
After starting the account as a joke, it unexpectedly took off.
“I’m probably biased, but I think he’s a good-looking cat,” Ms Malon said.
Cute pictures of Freddie are accompanied by funny captions.
“It’s a creative outlet for me, I enjoy it,” Ms Malon said.
She described Freddie as a feline with “a lot of sass”.
“He’s very naughty and bossy, and he runs the house,” she said.
