Geelong is headed for one of its warmest days this summer on Thursday.

A beach day is on the cards with 36C the predicted top temperature and humid conditions before a possible late shower, which will rein the temperature back to 25C for Friday.

The city’s highest temperature so far this summer was 37.1 C on January 11.

Only one other day has exceeded 36.

Geelong hit a sunny 26C just after 1pm on Wednesday, while Avalon topped out at 27.3C.

It was warm enough for Ocean Grove trio Courtney Mercer, Kylie Ferguson and Aneesha Sugita to take advantage of a beautiful summer’s day to cool off at Barwon Heads.
