BRINGING together the best food and wine pairings of the Cypriot culture, the Cyprus Food and Wine Festival will share the country’s flavours with Darwin this weekend.
Cyprus Community of the NT president Evan Fitirikkos encouraged all to indulge in Cypriot sausages, souvla and, of course, wine to get a true taste of the Mediterranean nation.
“The idea that we’re holding this event is because it’s the wine festival happening back home in Cyprus and it lasts for a week,” he said.
“We want to highlight our tradition back home, it will showcase purely Cypriot food and wine.”
Mr Fitirikkos said the event would also include cultural aspects of life in Cyprus.
“It’s a big family night, it’s exciting, people come along to enjoy the atmosphere, food and dancing responsibly,” he said.
“We’ve got different dance groups doing Greek and Cypriot dances and we will also have some performances.”

The Cyprus Food and Wine Festival will be on Saturday, September 5 from 5pm at the Cyprus Community Centre.
