Woman tells Bill Shorten he’s a ‘p***k’ while he campaigns in Tasmania in a case of mistaken identity

Bill Shorten has enjoyed the finer things in life today as he sipped on some gin and shucked oysters — but was stopped by a woman who insulted him by mistake. SEE THE VIDEO

It’s been a tough campaign, but Bill Shorten has enjoyed the finer things in life today as he sipped on some gin and shucked oysters during a walk through at a Hobart market.

But he was stopped in his tracks when local Sandi Fitzgerald told the Opposition Leader he was a prick, before conceding she had mistaken him for Scott Morrison.

She said it was fantastic to meet the Labor leader, saying he was a “bit of fun” and was definitely going to vote for him.

“I apologise for that but I thought he was Scott Morrison,” she said.

Mr Shorten laughed off the comment and shook Ms Fitzgerald’s hand, before tucking into an array of treats as he greeted punters at the Scalamanca Markets.

The Labor leader downed some samples of gin with reporters, shucked a fresh oyster and chomped on a butter curry.

As he entered the markets, Mr Shorten also stopped by a young local busker, dropping a fiver into the chuffed musician’s hat.

The walk through can always be a risk for the leaders, and today’s was no exception, with dozens of locals rushing up to take photos with Mr Shorten.
