Undecided voters crown Anthony Albanese winner of the final leaders’ debate
Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton have clashed on cost of living, housing and Welcome to Country ceremonies in the final leaders’ debate. But there can only be one winner.
Peter Dutton says welcome to country ceremonies are “overdone” at work meetings and the start of footy games, which “cheapens” their significance and divides the country.
Recognition of Indigenous Australians has emerged as a major point of difference between the Opposition leader and Anthony Albanese during the fourth and final leaders’ debate hosted by Seven in Sydney on Sunday, where housing, US relations, cost of living and energy also dominated.
Neither precisely named the price of a dozen eggs, but the Prime Minister’s answer of $7 was far closer than Mr Dutton’s guess of $4.20 when it was revealed they were about $8.
Early in the debate, Mr Dutton told the Prime Minister he should be “ashamed” of the cost of living crisis under the last three years of Labor.
One week out from the May 3 election, Labor remains ahead of the Coalition 52 to 48 on a two party preferred basis, according to the latest Newspoll.
