Federal Election 2025 Live: Peter Dutton fires back after Anthony Albanese calls May 3 election date
The PM has arrived in Queensland where his campaign will kick off after Peter Dutton said we “can’t afford three more years of Labor”.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has touched down in Brisbane for the first stretch of his five week campaign tour.
Arriving in Brisbane, the Prime Minister is chasing the keys seats of Brisbane and Ryan, currently held by the Greens.
It comes after Opposition Leader Peter Dutton said Australia is “going backwards” and voters “need relief now” in Brisbane following Anthony Albanese’s announcement the federal election will be on May 3.
Mr Dutton said he and his team have the experience it takes to get us back on track with cost of living pressures affecting pensioners, families and small businesses.
He also attacked the PM’s “completely out of touch” tax cuts as he pushed his plan to halve fuel excise.
“The sledge-a-thon is on” by the Prime Minister”, Peter Dutton says, while delivering an impassioned promise to be “the Prime Minister for home affordability and accessibility”.
