Who will win the federal election on Saturday? It’s the question on everyone’s lips, including those of a massive Northern Territory crocodile, it seems.
Both Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese have fed the crocodiles in the territory.
But it seems one in particular liked the smell of Albo ahead of ScoMo. Perhaps it was because Albo once got a little more up close and personal with a colleague crooc for the cameras.
In contrast, Mr Morrison kept a more healthy, and some would say, smarter distance during his feeding session.
For their part, the bookies are tipping Mr Albanese will become the next prime minister.
Sportsbet has Labor winning, with an outright majority. It‘s paying $1.52 on a Labor win, and $2.65 for the Coalition.
In a sign of real worry for the Coalition, the longest odds for the type of government formed are for a Coalition majority – $5.
It‘s a similar bet at TAB, which is paying $1.53 on Labor – and also predicts an outright win, with 66-70 seats the shortest odds.
However, Ladbrokes are predicting an even larger outright Labor victory, offering the shortest odds of $2.40 on the ALP taking 76 to 80 seats.
Gambling.com reports Labor has an 83% (1.2) chance of winning the federal election – a climb from 71% within the space of just five days and highlights just how unlikely the bookies think a Morrison victory is.
In the key Victorian seat of Kooyong, where Treasurer Josh Frydenberg is fighting for his political life against independent Monique Ryan, Sportsbet bookies have good news for the Treasurer.
He has the shortest odds to win at $1.70, over Ms Ryan’s $2.05.
Labor’s Kristina Keneally is backed to win the western Sydney seat of Fowler over independent Dai Le.
Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party leader Craig Kelly looks set to lose the seat of NSW Hughes – he’s a long shot and third in the running at $21, according to Sportsbet, with Liberal Jenny Ware at $1.75.
But independent Georgia Steel could take it, at $2.
In the key seat of Brisbane, the LNP has the edge – just – over Labor. Sportsbet has Trevor Evans at $1.95 over Madonna Jarrett ($2.05).
And over the SA seat of Boothby – held by the Liberals for more than 50 years – a huge upset is brewing, with Labor’s Louise Miller-Frost way ahead of Liberal Rachel Swift, at $1.20 to $4.10.
Sportsbet predicts Labor will take the in-doubt seat of Bass from the Liberals, and Liberal MP Tim Wilson to lose his Victorian seat of Goldstein to independent Zoe Daniels.
The Greens are a safe bet to retain the seat of Melbourne, with Adam Bandt at $1.01.
The Liberals look set to keep the other in-doubt SA seat of Sturt, which polling suggested was at risk. Sportsbet has James Stevens comfortably ahead of Labor‘s Sonja Baram.
But for the bookies, the seat of Bennelong might be the hardest one to call. With Liberal MP John Alexander retiring, it‘s a race to take John Howard’s old seat that famously fell to Labor in 2007.
Sportsbet has the Liberals retaining it with Simon Kennedy at $1.85, over Labor‘s Jerome Laxale, at $1.87.
TAB, however, is a little more confident in a Liberal win in Bennelong, with $1.75 to $2.

One of the Northern Territory’s largest crocs was tasked with the decision of selecting this weekend’s election winner, with meat chops dangling from each candidate’s corflute.
The fussy Crocodylus Park resident took his time when deciding who will win the polls and lead the country.
