AUSSIE battlers, hipsters, pensioners and sick Australians are among the winners in a Budget Treasurer Scott Morrison has designed to reset the political agenda and win the next election.

The centrepiece of the Turnbull Government’s pre-election budget is tax package that will deliver modest tax breaks of up to $530 a year, or about $10 a week, for workers on low and middle incomes from next July. THE LOWDOWN: What the budget means for you FEDERAL BUDGET: Your five-minute guide GO DEEP: Everything you need to know about the budget THE LIST: All the winners and losers The change – to come in after the next election - will appeal to more than 10 million Aussies battlers and middle income earners. Hundreds of thousands of workers will also benefit from the $13 billion tax package when the third highest tax bracket ceiling is raised from $87,000 to $90,000 from July next year and then raised further to $120,000 in 2022-23. There’s a little for a lot of different Australians in the 2018 budget, with farmers, commuters, big and small businesses among a raft of other winners. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Treasurer Scott Morrison hope the budget will help turn around opinion polls before the next federal election, which could be held any time from August to next May. If the government is able to win a few consecutive opinion polls with the agenda reset, Australians may very well be headed to the polls before the end of the year. If the reset fails, the election will be delayed until the last minute. Currently, the govenrment has trailed Labor for 31 consecutive Newspolls, with the latest snapshot putting them behind by just two points on a two-party preferred basis.
