A FORMER Adelaide City councillor looks set to play a key role in the future of former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s seat of Wentworth.
Mary-Lou Jarvis is among eight candidates in the race for Liberal preselection on Thursday night ahead of the yet to be announced by-election.
Ms Jarvis, who grew up in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, studied law at Adelaide University.
She was a practising lawyer before cutting her teeth in politics at the city council.
Ms Jarvis is now a Woollahra councillor in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and president of NSW Liberal Women’s Council.
She is one of three women who have nominated for preselection, as private polling this week revealed a female candidate would boost the vote in the blue-ribbon seat, which has dropped to 39 per cent.
