The hairdresser girlfriend of a young doctor who was murdered during a home invasion vanished for a week from the same home a year ago.

Dr Ash Gordon’s partner Dakota Nagel, 25, made headlines last year after disappearing from the couple’s home in Melbourne’s northeast on Sunday, January 8 after spending the night clubbing with friends.

Family and friends expressed their relief on social media after Ms Nagel was found late on the evening of Sunday, January 15, the Daily Mail has reported.

Victoria Police never explained the conditions or circumstances in which she was found.

The 24-year-old hairdresser had left the Doncaster home early on a Sunday morning to visit licensed premises in Prahran and South Yarra, according to police.

She left her friends on Sunday afternoon and reportedly did not contact anyone for a week.

On Tuesday. January 10, she posted a picture of her late dog to her business Instagram page, Koda Hair Extensions.

The post quickly sparked concerns from friends who claimed Ms Nagel had only ever used the page to promote her business.

“Not one single photo on this account is similar to this picture, this is definitely off,” one person wrote.

Detectives began looking for Ms Nagel on the Wednesday after her mother reported her disappearance to police.

“Ms Nagel has a wide circle of friends and often attends licensed venues in the Prahran area,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“At times, friends will not hear from her for a day or two. However, it is unusual for her not to have contacted anyone for this length of time.”

A relative of Ms Nagel posted to Facebook at the time, thanking people for their messages and help spreading the missing persons alert.

“DAKOTA HAS BEEN FOUND,” the post read.

Dr Gordon was killed last week after chasing attackers following a home invasion in the same Melbourne home from which his partner went missing last year.

Dr Gordon, 33, was stabbed and hit by a car after pursuing a group of thieves who broke into his Doncaster home in Melbourne’s east on Saturday.

The beloved GP was found by police on Eildon Street at about 5.30am on January 13, less than a kilometre from his home, and died at the scene.

Ms Nagel reportedly called police as the home invaders stole items, including laptops and shoes.

Ms Nagel’s disappearance last year raised concerns when she posted an unusual photo on her business Instagram page, prompting friends to report her missing.

No arrests have been made.

Dr Gordon, a skin specialist, has been remembered as a “great doctor” who was “loved by so many”.

“Ash was one of the nicest, most humble guys you could meet,” his close friend Jovanne Pieterse told The Herald Sun.

“He had this energy that would light up any room and was dearly loved by so many.”

Flowers and a heartbreaking note left at Eildon St on Sunday described Dr Gordon as a “true gentleman”.

“Intelligent, honest, compassionate, friendly, generous … I don’t think there is one positive characteristic I could leave out,” one note written by friend Daniel Fahry read.

“Gone way too soon, brother. I truly thank you for all that you helped me with.”

The close friend said he hoped the attackers would “rot in hell”.

Inspector Carlie Kohler said homicide squad detectives were investigating Dr Gordon’s death.

“It is understood that this male was the victim of an aggravated burglary on Sargent Street in Doncaster before being located,” Inspector Kohler said.

“I want to reassure the public that we have increased our patrols and our presence in the community, and we will continue to do so.

“This is a tragic set of circumstances, and our thoughts are with his friends, family and community.”

One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described the ordeal as “terrifying”.

“No amount of material is worth a life, so I think that’s the sad part of it,” he told media.

Dr Gordon owned Redefine Aesthetics, a Richmond-based clinic specialising in skin and anti-ageing.

The company website noted the 33-year-old had “experience in many facets of medicine” and believed “in forming strong relationships with his patients that value honesty and transparency in all aspects of the treatment”.

His death comes after an elderly couple living on the same street were burgled in November, and a woman living next door to Dr Gordon had her car stolen from her garage on Wednesday, January 10.

Residents also reported hearing youths partying in the days before the home invasion.

Police have said the incidents are not linked, nor is there any reported link between Dr Gordon’s death and Ms Nagel’s 2023 disappearance.

Patrols have been ramped up in the area as investigations continue.
