A COLLEGE in Tasmania’s North-West has more than one virus on its mind after it was confirmed on Tuesday that a student had contracted the meningococcal infection.
It is the second case recorded in Tasmania this year and the sixth since 2019.
The Don College advised parents of the infection, telling them that Public Health Tasmania had advised the risk of infection to the school community was minimal as the student had been in isolation, because they felt unwell, during most of the infectious period.
An Education Department spokesman said any incident of contagious illness was taken seriously and parents and carers of students at the school had been notified.
