Designs for the new $23.5 million Culinary School at The Gordon have been revealed, with the flash new facility set to feature cutting-edge training spaces.
Training and Skills and Higher Education Minister Gayle Tierney has released the concept drawings for the ultra-modern culinary school, where Geelong’s next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals will be trained.
The State Government has appointed Gray Puksand as architects for the project, who are already well advanced in the design process.
The Geelong City campus will host the Culinary School and its three new food training kitchens, along with a new bakery training facility.
The project also includes a renovation of the Davidson Restaurant, a new barista academy and café, a new Koori Centre and a central courtyard.
A builder is expected to be appointed later this year.
Construction will take place in stages over 2021 and 2022 to minimise disruption to campus course delivery.
The State Government has committed $13.5 million towards the project with the Gordon investing a $10 million.
“We’re ensuring our local food and hospitality sector will continue to thrive with more high-quality training at the Gordon that links up to local restaurants, cafes and employers,” Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said.
