DARWIN Council alderman Justine Glover will try to gain support for greening over the controversial Bicentennial Park carpark at tomorrow night’s council meeting.

Ms Glover’s motion will look to include more green space while maintaining access for military services for events at the Cenotaph, such as Anzac Day and Bombing of Darwin commemorations.

“There is very strong community support for the existing carpark at the Esplanade to be greened, in line with the original Civic Square development plan,” she said.

“There is enormous potential to make this area into a peaceful place of contemplation for locals and tourists.”
