POLICE have arrested a trio of alleged fraudsters who they say stole $25,000 worth of furniture from an apartment they leased in Woolner in March.

Investigators allege the two men, aged 25 and 27, and a 23-year-old woman then forged fake doctor’s scripts that they used to obtain prescription drugs from 19 different pharmacists around Darwin.

On Monday, officers raided an address in Rosebery and arrested the trio, after allegedly finding dangerous drugs and evidence of fraudulent activity.

The two men were charged with 20 counts of obtaining benefit by deception as well as stealing and a string of drug offences.

They were due to face the Darwin Local Court yesterday.

The woman was summonsed to appear at court at a later date.

Senior Constable Tim Jones said the group established a business called NT Debt Recovery Group in March and police were seeking information from anyone who suspected they had been defrauded by the business.

“Information suggests that they have been establishing lines of credit and sending out fraudulent debts and invoices for payment throughout the Darwin region,” he said.
