Famous faces are supporting the residents of Colac in the wake of a coronavirus outbreak in the town.

Mental health advocacy group Let’s Talk Colac partnered with local band The Red Violets to develop the ‘Find Your Light’ campaign, focusing on supporting the community’s mental health during the unprecedented challenge.

A video posted to The Red Violets’ Facebook page on the weekend, sending messages of hope and support to the community, has amassed thousands of views.

Colac-raised sportsmen, star cricketer Aaron Finch and AFL champion Luke Hodge, contributed to the campaign.

Other well-known Australians including comedian Andy Lee, musician Guy Sebastian and presenter Carrie Bickmore got on board, while local health workers also feature with practical advice.

Coronavirus cases in Colac surged following an outbreak at Australian Lamb Company last month.

Cases in Colac Otway exploded from none to more than 90 in a matter of weeks.

Let’s Talk Colac executive member Kirsty Oborne said the campaign aimed to raise awareness and reassure the community it’s OK not to be OK.

“We wanted to put something out there that showed the community we’re here,” she said.

“The community is feeling supported and blown away by the calibre of people sending messages.”

The messages of support precede a new single from The Red Violets, also called Find Your Light, in the same video.

The video can be viewed on The Red Violets’ Facebook page.
