“I’ve performed at Browns Mart for 10 years, doing Friday afternoon for a while,” Garnham said.

“It’s always been a gig I’ve loved to perform at and it’s close to my heart.”

Browns Mart artistic director Sean Pardy said the industry had taken a hit but was confident of a rebound.

“On March 24 this year the live performing arts industry was shut down instantly,” Mr Pardy said.

“Tens of thousands of jobs were lost and people’s lives were dramatically changed.

“On June 5 we start the recovery.

“I can’t wait to see artists and arts workers working hard again, creating incredible events for the local community.”

Mr Pardy said the tight-knit community was looking forward to performing again after spending the past few months spruiking shows, readjusting their schedule and planning how to adapt to coronavirus restrictions.

“We are proud to be the last theatre closed and the first theatre open in Australia if not the world,” he said.

“It is our pleasure to continue to add to the cultural and social fabric of the Northern Territory.”

The theatre will also have an Evening Reads performance on opening night and two full-scale theatre productions to be performed in 2020.
