TOURISM operators now have a date to work towards – July 17 – to welcome visitors for an, albeit smaller, tourist season this year.

Museum and Gallery of the NT director Marcus Schutenko said operators now had clarity about how to plan and run attractions.

“It’s great to have a date that we can now work to for the borders,” he said.

“Our Defence of Darwin site had decided they couldn’t reopen until the borders did to make it financially viable.

“It also means the cafe here at the museum will be opening, which is good news.

“It’s great to know that it’s happening in advance of what’s going to be an exciting August for the Territory with the Supercars, Darwin Festival and other events.
