PEOPLE across South Australia have risen early to be among the first to see a spectacular “blood moon”, which has been captivating stargazers across Australia since 4am.
The event was the longest blood moon this century and coincided with Mars’ closest approach in 15 years.
Advertiser.com.au readers who sacrificed a Saturday morning sleep in to see the brilliant red moon have been sending in photos from across the state and say the event was “amazing”.
“Fantastic! Yes it was worth getting up to look at and Mars is amazingly big and bright too,” Abby Caroline wrote on The Advertiser’s Facebook page.
Royalene Gustafsson wrote: ”Was just so awe inspiring and feeling alive and knowing you were watching it unfold, with our glorious Kookaburras singing their magical laughing morning song in the background, just made it all so wonderful. I felt like dancing in the dark!!”
Jacqui Bryson wrote: “Crystal clear here at Normanville just beautiful”.
