UPDATE: WALKING into Charmaine Battiss’ bakery is like warm hug and it is no surprise Gold Coasters travel near and far to try her goods.
The Mill Bakery, a friendly community hub in Paradise Point, delivers sweets with a smile and has been voted the Best of the Gold Coast for 2020.
The public gave hundreds of reviews on Facebook and Bulletin subscribers chose The Mill Bakery as the winner from 10 finalists.
Ms Battiss, who purchased and renovated the tired bakery 18 months ago, said claiming first place was a testament to her dedicated staff and incredible customers.
“During COVID-19 we’ve done really well but it’s still been really hard,” the owner said.
“We are still standing thanks to Paradise Point residents shopping locally and we are so appreciative.”
The bakery is famous for their gluten free and dairy free chunky steak pies, vegan pies, sourdough, sausage rolls, carrot cake and vanilla slice.
Customer Bobby Monika Prinsloo said: “It’s the best, has a huge variety, everything is tasty and the best coffee as well. Everything in the shop is great, including the friendly staff.”
