A MONTH before Alicia Schiller murdered a Norlane mother of three, the 27-year-old allegedly stabbed a man in an incident where she, too, was injured, it can be revealed.
On Friday, Schiller was found guilty of murder by a Melbourne Supreme Court jury and, with a verdict laid down, the Geelong Advertiser can reveal her criminal history.
While in custody over the 2014 stabbing murder of Tyrelle Evertsen-Mostert, she appeared before the Geelong Magistrates’ Court for a bail application where the court heard she was “embedded in the criminal element of Geelong”.
Police informant Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Tremain said she had a “extensive criminal history” and a “propensity for violence”.
“This is not the first assault she’s been involved in with a knife,” Sen Sgt Tremain told the court.
“There’s been others where she hasn’t been charged as the victims are reluctant to come forward.
“She was stabbed a month or so before to the chest in an incident where she stabbed another male.
“She’s embedded in the criminal element of Geelong.”
Her criminal history dates to when she was a teenager.
In 2008, the pair were charged with an assault that left a man fighting for his life.
The victim’s skull and part of his face were fractured, Geelong Magistrates’ Court heard.
While on bail, Schiller was charged with intentionally causing injury and harassing a witness. A court heard that on July 28, 2008, Schiller approached a woman who was a prosecution witness and punched her in the face three to four times.
In 2010, the then 20-year-old was jailed after she took part in a gang bashing of a 56-year-old woman who confronted her over stones thrown at a car.
The women suffered a fractured eye socket, a 2.5cm gash above her left eyebrow, was hospitalised for two days, had to have plastic surgery and was left traumatised.
In a 2013 incident, Schiller assaulted an elderly woman on a bus after the woman refused to hand over money for a bus fare.
Between the ages of 23 and 26 her disregard for the law continued. In this time she was convicted on charges of shop theft, possessing proceeds of crime, being drunk in a public place, multiple counts of forging prescriptions and obtaining drugs by false representation.
Schiller’s life of crime reached its nadir last week when was found guilty of murdering Norlane mother-of-three Ms Evertsen-Mostert.
In the 2014 attack, she stabbed the 31-year-old over $50.
She had pleaded not guilty to murder, arguing she did not intend to kill.
In an early bail hearing, lawyer Scott Johns told the court it had become known in prison that Schiller “killed someone in front of their child” and “that’s been a great difficulty for her”.
Mr Johns said there had been a formal report made to the authorities about her safety.
He told the court she had expressed sorrow and apologised to Ms Evertsen-Mostert’s family.
