41-year-old Tunbridge man arrested after crashing Commodore into freight train
A 41-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly trying to beat a Tas Rail freight train across a level crossing, causing damage to both his vehicle and the train.

ALCOHOL was involved in an early morning crash between a freight train and a car in Oatlands.
At 12.49am this morning a Holden Commodore and a 30-wagon freight train crashed at the level crossing.
The Tas Rail locomotive and the Commodore had minor damage, but no one was injured.
Police say investigations have established that the Commodore was travelling on John St, Tunbridge and stopped at the level crossing as the train approached.
The driver decided to cross the tracks and failed to give way to the train which clipped the right, rear corner of the vehicle.
The driver fled the scene in the Commodore but was later found at an address in Tunbridge by police.
The 41-year-old Tunbridge man was taken into custody and charged with exceeding the .05 alcohol limit, failing to remain at the scene of the crash and failing to give way at a level crossing.
He was bailed to appear at Hobart Magistrates Court on January 25, 2021.
Investigations by Tas Rail at the scene were completed and the train later continued on its journey north.
