THE young and old are being challenged by two Townsville sisters to test their discipline on the felt every Wednesday night.
Mila and Xava Williamson may only be in primary school but are learning the foundations of life after joining the Townsville Eight ball Association.
The duo are encouraging new players to join the association and take up a new hobby.
Year 3 student Xava said she had learnt valuable life skills playing Eight ball over the last two years.
“You get to have fun and sometimes win and you can meet lots of people and play lots of people,” she said.
Seven-year-old Mila is the club’s youngest player and has been playing for the last five months.
Mila said she was hoping to perfect her skills of breaking and pocketing.
“I haven’t won against my sister yet, but I’m looking forward to playing a lot more this year,” she said.
Dad Danny Williamson said the love for Eight ball ran in the girls’ blood.
“Their mum is the North Queensland champion of Eight ball so when the girls were old enough to reach a certain point on the table, we signed them up,” he said.
“It is great to get the girls out and about and socialising so they could learn losing is not the end of the world.”
Members meet every Wednesday at 6pm at the South Townsville Bowls Club.
