Miami State High School to perform Grease the Musical at Great Hall

Miami State High School students will be hitting the stage this week to perform Grease the Musical at its Great Hall.

About 85 students are involved, including on stage in the cast and behind the scenes as crew members.

Head of the school’s art department Julie-Anne Grant said the musical allowed students to “explore big personalities, strong choreography and iconic songs”.

“It provides a great opportunity for students to grow in confidence and collaborate as a team,” she said.

“Plus, it’s a crowd-pleaser (and) we knew it would be a hit with both students and our wider school community.”

The performance is being directed by senior teacher Jasmina Dive.

The group has been rehearsing multiple times a week plus on weekends and school holidays.

Ms Dive said their commitment and dedication was “shining through in their performance”.

“There’s a real buzz of excitement among the cast and crew as we head into performance week,” she said.

“The students have worked incredibly hard over the past few months and now that opening night is just around the corner, they’re feeling a mix of nervous energy and pride.

“From bonding at rehearsals to seeing their characters come to life on stage, many are saying it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of their school years.”

Performances are being held at the Miami Great Hall on Thursday and Friday at 6.30pm and Saturday at 1.30pm.
