Days after Mert Ney allegedly killed Michaela Dunn at a Sydney apartment, handwritten messages have been posted outside the Clarence St unit block, honouring the 24-year-old.

Sydney rampage victim remembered as beautiful, fun-loving

The Sydney apartment where Michaela Dunn was allegedly killed has turned into shrine as mourners remember a “beautiful” and “caring soul” in the wake of her violent death last week.

Mert Ney is accused of killing the 24-year-old in a Clarence St apartment on Tuesday before allegedly stabbing 41-year old Linda Bo at the Hotel CBD.

Ms Dunn is being remembered as an “incredible” woman as her friends and family continue to come to terms with her death.

Her death has also prompted an outpouring of grief among the sex work community and residents with flowers and dozens of messages left at the front of her apartment.

“You will always be remembered as the beautiful kind person you were,” one message said.

“Thank-you for shining your beautiful line on the world.”

Other signs expressed anger for what has been described as undue focus on her profession.

“Sex workers all over the world stand with you Michaela,” one message read.

“It was a tragedy your life was taken and that your valid career has been sensationalised.”

Ney has been charged with murder, attempted murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intentionally choking with recklessness and common assault.

The 20-year-old’s lawyer has said Ney will defend the charges on the grounds of his mental health.
