A fleet of armed vehicles and officers stormed a street in Sydney’s west today, closing down a suburban roadway after a siege situation.
The incident began at 10am when officers attended a home in Joiner Place, Bonnyrigg to arrest a 33-year-old man, wanted on a revocation of parole warrant, and a 31-year-old woman, wanted on an arrest warrant.
The pair refused to surrender to police so police deployed specialist resources in an attempt to end the barricade.
Officers were seen wearing bullet proof vests as there were initial fears the couple were armed with a gun.

It took five hours before the man and woman were taken into custody without incident and were taken to Fairfield Police Station.
Paul Boje from NSW Ambulance said responding emergency crews were prepared for the incident. “It was quite a tense situation but luckily the officers involved were also highly trained, they are trained to deal with these situations.”
