A new Lethbridge cricketer has made a stunning return to the field after three summers on the sidelines.
Brooke Gorman is at the top of the list in more ways than one, opening the batting for the Rosellas in A-grade and also number one for the most runs across seven women’s competitions after two rounds.
In fact, she’s bumped former Test player Steph Theodore, who is coaching Barwon Heads, to number two after making 92 runs from two games with a highest score of 67 at a healthy strike rate of 83.
Gorman started playing cricket at Manifold Heights around eight years of age, progressing to senior men’s cricket for a long time before a women’s program was eventually established.
However, she took a break after rupturing her ACL and PCL while playing netball for Bannockburn.
She would later be enticed to Lethbridge by club secretary Michelle Giles through Tigers connections.
Gorman said she was loving her time at the Rosellas so far this year.
“It’s a great team environment, even if you’re not the best cricketer but want to have fun on a weekend, if you’ve got a good bunch of girls to be around it makes everything so much more enjoyable,” Gorman said.
“You learn so much from other people with different skill levels.
“It’s just the best kind of environment to be around.”
