He was accused in court of hitting her in the head with a blunt object.

Police told the court that Mr Robertson, who had cuts on his arm, had admitted involvement in Ms Haley’s death.

Her distraught family said before the court hearing they’ve been touched by an “act of pure evil.”

“Last night an act of pure evil touch our family. She did not deserve what happened to her,” the family said in a statement.

“Our beautiful Katie girl, not only did we lose a much-loved daughter and sister, but two precious children lost their beautiful mother.”

Heated arguments were heard at Ms Haley’s home days before she was found dead at her

Fairfield Cres shortly after 11pm on Friday.

Neighbours have said they heard “out of control” arguing and screaming coming from a Fairfield Crescent home in the week leading up to the grisly find.

Neighbour Terry Parnis said a couple with two young children rented the modern home.

“I heard nothing last night but during the week I’ve heard a lot of arguing,” he said.

“Screaming and swearing from both of them. We’re really worried about their kids.”

“It’s a very quiet street, the nosiest thing we get is birds.”

Mr Parnis also believed the man fixed fridges and the woman worked at a local pub.

Jason Maza, who lives in the estate with his young family, said his wife was shaken by the news.

“Around 11pm the police banged on our door and asked if we had heard anything,” he said.

“It’s just very surprising, knowing that it was this close to our house.

“It’s sad news for the estate, it’s only new and being developed.

Another woman who lives nearby said both the man and woman were “very young and very skinny”.

Police reopened the road about 10am.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
