THE “heartbroken” family of Alicia Little, whose body was found at a Kyneton property, have released an emotional statement on social media.
“It’s been very hard to take in that we have lost our sister, a mother, daughter, Aunty, cousin, niece and great friend to so many people,” the statement on Facebook reads.
“Our family are heartbroken but all your messages and phone calls are helping us get through this. So please keep the memories coming of our loving Alicia Quay-Little.”
Kyneton man Charles Evans appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday night charged with killing Alicia Little.
Police allege an autopsy conducted overnight revealed Ms Little suffered excessive blunt trauma injuries consistent with being hit by a car.
The court heard emergency services were called to a domestic incident at Lavenders Lane, Kyneton, about 3.45pm on Thursday.
Ms Little, 41, found in the front yard of a rural property, was unable to be revived by police and paramedics.
Police say Mr Evans returned to the property about 5.30pm where he was arrested and taken into custody.
The 44-year-old portrayed an innocent demeanour when speaking with Magistrate John Doherty.
“I want to say everything but my solicitor said hold off,” he said.
“I’ve never been in trouble before and I don’t know what to do ... but I wanted to speak about anything.”
He asked what a bail application was when it was denied.
The court heard Mr Evans takes medication for a pre-existing spinal injury but has no other health concerns.
Forensics officers late on Thursday night had inspected over a white ute, which was parked at the foot of a long driveway leading into the property.
It was later towed from the scene.
A neighbour of Ms Little said the pair were kind and caring people.
As homicide squad detectives left the Kyneton property on Friday morning, family and friends arrived to pay their respects and place flowers.
Another friend, Sheldon Grant, paid tribute on Facebook on Friday.
“You always had a big smile on your face always happy and fun you made everyone around you feel so loved and happy,” they said.
“It was only two days ago I was talking to you about all the fun we had. I love you my angel fly high I know you will always be looking down on everyone with peace and love.”
The rural property is surrounded by farmland on which horses and sheep live.
It’s understood that the residents of the property own two racehorses.
Mr Evans has been remanded in custody to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on January 2.
