A WOMAN celebrating her birthday at Crown claims she was trapped in a toilet by a security guard.

Hospitality worker Corinne Pullens is suing Crown and Neverfail Debt Recovery Services, the firm that supplied the contract security guard, for unspecified damages.

In a writ lodged in the County Court Ms Pullens claims she suffered psychological injury after being “entrapped” in the rest room.

Ms Pullens writ says she was using a rest room near a designated smoking area when the incident happened on September 12, 2014.

Slater and Gordon Senior Public Safety Lawyer Ike Nwokolo told the Herald Sun that after using the bathroom his client found she was unable to exit, claiming the door was held shut by a security staff member.

Corrine Pullens claims a security guard “locked” her in a toilet at the casino.

“After some time of frantically trying to get out, the door was released by the security guard and she was finally able to exit,” Mr Nwokolo said.

“The public has a right to feel safe when using rest rooms at all public venues and not have to go through the ordeal that Corrine (allegedly) experienced when she visited the casino.”

Mr Nwokolo said that as a result of the alleged false imprisonment Ms Pullens suffered significant psychological trauma which had a “devastating” impact of her personal and professional life.

It was some time before Ms Pullens returned to work and her writ claims her injury, loss and damage was caused by the negligence of the Crown and Neverfail.
Crown spokeswoman Natasha Stipanov said the company was not aware of any legal proceedings and was therefore unable to comment.
