Police say a 24-year-old woman was alone in a lift in an apartment building on City Rd about 3.30am on New Year’s Day when a group females walked into the elevator and attacked her when she moved to exit at her floor.

She was taken to hospital for observation with bruising and a lump to her head.
Investigators believe the same group of females, perceived to be of African appearance, may also be behind a similar assault at the same location the morning after.
It’s believed two female victims were attacked by the youths about 2am, January 2 but they have not yet been identified.
Victoria Police have released CCTV images of a group of females that may be able to assist with their investigation and have urged the two female victims to come forward with details.
