A car chase has ended in flames with a BMW catching fire in Hawthorn on Christmas Eve.
Police responded to an alleged aggravated burglary in Peter St, Bell Post Hill — in Geelong — about 4am this morning, where a vehicle was stolen.
The car, a BMW, was monitored by police Air Wing and other units as it headed towards Melbourne’s CBD before a short pursuit occurred.

A Geelong to Hawthorn police chase has ended in a dramatic car fire this morning.

Victoria Police spokesman Sam Bidey said the chase came to a red-hot end in Hawthorn.
“The vehicle caught fire before crashing into a pole on Toorak Road, Hawthorn about 5.30am,” he said.
