Victim says suspected killer Jonathan Dick will strike again

A Melbourne father who narrowly escaped becoming murder suspect Jonathan Dick’s second victim says it is only a matter of time before the fugitive claims another life.

A Melbourne father who narrowly escaped becoming murder suspect Jonathan Dick’s second victim says it is only a matter of time before the fugitive claims another life.

Father of three David says he and his family have been living in fear since Dick attacked him with a hammer in Keilor last August.

“He said to me that you knew this was coming,” David told Seven News Melbourne. “That was the only words he said to me. I remember fighting with him on the floor and hitting him quite a number of times.”

David managed to fight Dick off but fears others might not be able to do the same.

“We could have been looking at two murders,” he said. “If he’s not caught soon, I’m positive he’ll do it again.”

David still has an injury on his hand from the assault. The fearful father was friends with Dick years ago but the two fell out after he insisted Dick seek help for drugs and other issues.

David’s wife and three children were there at the time of the attack.

“When he shouted ‘It’s Jono’ I knew that he’s come here to kill David,” David’s wife told Seven News Melbourne.

Five years prior to the hammer attack, Dick turned up to David’s house with a knife but was talked down by his then friend.

Dick is suspected of killing his brother David with a sword at Doncaster shopping centre two years ago and has been on the run since.

There is a $100,000 reward for anyone who has information about Dick’s whereabouts.
