Uber used as getaway car by teen criminal in Brunswick West

Police have arrested an 18-year-old after intercepting an Uber which was carrying a man believed to have robbed a Brunswick West home on Saturday morning.

A teen who allegedly robbed a Brunswick West home as a woman slept caught an Uber from the scene of the crime.

The victim woke to find a man in the lounge room of her house on Albion Rd, about 4.30am.

He allegedly stole electronic items and fled as the woman, who was uninjured, called police.

Officers searching the streets stopped an Uber with a male passenger, who ran from police and left alleged stolen electronics in the car.

Police soon found the 18-year-old man from Brunswick hiding at a school nearby.

The teen was charged with aggravated burglary and theft.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 21.
