Three men in hospital after being shot in Brunswick in bikie-related feud

UPDATE: THREE men shot outside the Bandidos bikie clubhouse overnight are remaining tight-lipped as they recover from serious leg injuries in hospital.

THREE men shot outside the Bandidos bikie clubhouse overnight are remaining tight-lipped as they recover from serious leg injuries in hospital.

Police have said the men — a 54-year-old from Altona, a 43-year-old from Coburg North and a 26-year-old from Gladstone Park — are not co-operating with investigations.

The trio are known to police and linked with the outlaw motorcycle gang, police said.

A hunt is on for a group of unknown men who drove by the clubhouse on Weston St, Brunswick, and fired more than five shots into the property about 11pm on Friday.

It is unclear if there were more than one gunman, but police suspect a small calibre handgun was used.

The three injured men were standing outside the front of the club when they were shot.

Detectives from the anti-bikie Echo taskforce and Armed Crime squad stormed the clubhouse this afternoon to search the property for any evidence.

CCTV footage and some items of clothing were seized in the raid.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nicholas Allwood said they had yet to determine if a rival bikie gang was responsible.

“We know it was a targeted shooting but at this stage investigations are too early to determine what the motivation is for this shooting,” he said.

“At this stage the victims haven’t given us their full co-operation. That’s one of the issues that we face in terms of these types of incidents, but Victoria Police will continue its investigation.”

He reassured the community that they would up patrols in the area.

“I think the community can be reassured to a degree that this was a targeted shooting,” he said.

It is understood the bikie gang was hosting a Friday night barbecue when the three men were shot.

A group of men wearing Bandidos jackets outside the clubhouse told the Sunday Herald Sun to “p--- off” when asked what had happened.

Notorious champion kickboxer Toby Mitchell was shot several times outside the same clubhouse in late 2011.

Anti-bikie Echo Taskforce detectives are investigating the circumstances and are yet to make any arrests.
