Three men allegedly invaded a Coburg home armed with knives last night.

The men forced their way in to the Vincent St home around 10.30pm armed with knives.

The offenders threatened the occupants of the home, three men in their 20s, and made demands for cash and jewellery.

Neighbours heard the commotion and called triple-0.

Police have arrested two offenders but a third remains on the run.

“A man was still allegedly in possession of a knife and police were forced to deploy OC spray which subdued him,” a police spokeswoman said.

“The second offender was arrested by police at the intersection of Vincent and Munro Streets.”

Next door neighbour Dave Harraway called police after he heard a commotion.

“We heard a lot of yelling and screaming last night, it was so loud,” he told the Herald Sun.

“We heard glass smashing.

“It sounded like someone was trying to come into the house from outside.

“I heard them say ‘get out of our house’.”

Mr Harraway’s back fence was damaged as one of the alleged offenders jumped over it to escape police.

“Our side fence is broken, it is all smashed up,” he said.

“Police came really quickly, they were here in a minute.

Mr Harraway has lived in the street for 27 years and said it was usually a “peaceful suburb”.

“It’s a quiet area, it’s not what you expect on a Saturday night,” he said.

“I think there’s a few problems in the house.

“We don’t know them, they come and go all the time.”

Neighbour Robyn Blaikie said she thought it was a party.

“The guy was screaming ‘get out here’ last night,” she said.

“He wanted him out on the street.

“It is usually a rental.

“I was a bit shocked.

“I heard something getting hit, I heard what I thought was punching.”

Another neighbour, Robyn, who did not wish to reveal her surname, said she heard yelling and shouting around 10.30pm.

“It was enough to call triple-0,” she said.

“They (police) were terrific, they had the helicopter going.

“It was pretty noisy.

“I’ve met the boys in the street, they are quite nice.”

The Herald Sun witnessed police bag up a kitchen knife at a neighbouring property around 9.30am.

A shirtless male at the home of the aggravated burglary declined to speak about the ordeal.

It is believed the parties are known to one another.

The occupants of the home, all men aged 28, 27 and 26, were physically uninjured.

A 34-year-old Dingley man and a 44-year-old Norlane man have both been charged with aggravated home invasion.

They will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
