A THIRD man has been ordered to stand trial over an alleged plot to bomb Melbourne landmarks on Christmas Day as part of an Islamic State-inspired attack.

Hamza Abbas was today ordered to stand trial on one charge of preparing or planning a terrorist act following a committal hearing in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Peter Mealy said evidence of Abbas’ alleged involvement was “tenuous and weak” but said it would be up to a jury to decide what inferences, if any, can be drawn from the prosecution case.

It comes after Ahmed Mohamed, 24 and Abdullah Chaarani, 26, were yesterday committed to stand trial over the murderous plan, which allegedly saw the men stake out Federation Square just days before Christmas.
